Brief History

Christian Mission Hospital Rajshahi (CMHR) was established in the year 1926 in the north of Bangladesh by Presbyterian Missionaries of UK. Currently it is being operated by Church of Bangladesh (COB) through a Board of Trustees.

Situated in the city of Rajshahi, Christian Mission Hospital was once regarded as the only ideal home of health care for many local people, especially it was renowned for its services for pregnant mothers and newborns and children in the north part of Bangladesh.

The northwestern part of Bangladesh is home to a large group of ethnic Santal people, and they make up the majority of patients and beneficiaries of this hospital. This has been the case for about 100 years, and the missionaries of the European countries chose this area to serve these people through their healing ministry. Christian Mission Hospital, Rajshahi, aims to give excellent medical care to people of all ethnic groups and religions at an affordable price.

At present it is registered with the government as a 20 bedded hospital though it has a physicial capacity to accommodate 120 beds. Christian Mission Hospital Rajshahi (CMHR), being the health organ of the Church of Bangladesh, is the property of the Church of Bangladesh Synod, the real estate being vested to the Dhaka Diocesan Trust, St. Thomas Church, 54 Johnson Road, Dhaka 1100, Bangladesh.
